{Design Inspiration}: Millwork Details

One of my favorite parts about working on this year’s Luxury Home with Divine Custom Homes was being involved in the millwork design process! A huge learning curve it was, but so rewarding as we watched the results unfold before our eyes! Though it seemed terrifying in the beginning, selecting each item number, and slowly building each piece of the puzzle, it ended up inspiring me to pay more attention to this portion of the building process! Meanwhile, I’ve been compiling some of my favorite millwork concepts that I can’t wait to use in upcoming projects!

A small portion of the millwork that we designed for house #12 on the tour this year! We loved how dramatic the window and door casing turned out!

I love this chevron wainscoting detail! A creative take on your typical millwork, this would make a fun statement in a playroom or entryway!

Currently obsessing over this idea! How simple to create stripes out of molding in a contrasting color? I love how it perfectly ties into the bookshelves!

A little extra ceiling detail is added to this space by applying wood in a herringbone pattern between each beam! Subtle, yet interesting!

We used this photo as our inspiration for the theater doors in the Luxury Home. It was a simple way to add a lot of interest to an otherwise, boring, flat-panel door!

This coffered ceiling is just lovely! A great way to highlight a specialty light fixture in a more formal space. All eyes go up in this dining room!

Such a cute detail for a little girl’s room! I adore the scalloped soffit that surrounds this window bench!

That’s all for today! I could go on and on with millwork details!
