New Construction Season: Exterior Inspiration

The snow is melted and the temps are supposed to stay above freezing in the 10 day forecast. As a designer, this can only mean one thing…

Minnesota has officially launched “New Construction Season”.

Road Restrictions In Minnesota

Do you know what road restrictions are? Don’t worry, most of our out of state clients don’t. Here in good ole Minne the roads are weakened by the frigid cold winter air, making the pavement more vulnerable in the spring as things defrost. This makes the state put road restrictions on our roads to prevent heavy loads from tearing up the roads even more. I know, kind of boring stuff, but when someone is anxious to get their house started these road restrictions can be a major nuisance.

So, in the month of March, the phone rings off the hook to get started on new construction projects with clients and builders. We are very excited about some of the new projects coming up and love new construction because we get to start with the outside in!

When working on a construction project, its never too soon to hire a designer. Our best projects happen when we start from the beginning, with the architect and the builder, to design a home perfectly suited for our client. It allows us all to be on the same page, working as a team, designing a beautiful home from the outside in.

We are loving this cream color exterior with the sage green shutters. Inspiration for a spec home we are starting in Edina!

We are constantly searching for inspiration for front porches. Many homes in Minnesota have front porches, so its important to us these porches are beautiful, as its the first thing people see when they come to your home.

We are loving the darker tones of this stone with the white trim. The black shutters are icing on the cake!

Details are everything. Light fixtures, house numbers, garage doors, we don’t like to skip a beat.

We are really excited to get started on a new project in The Dalles, Oregon. The first house we are working on there already has a name, Little Yellow. Although this home isn’t little, the color combination inspired us to get the ball rolling on selections for “Little Yellow”.

There are some exciting projects we are working on this spring and can’t wait to share with you the progress as the year continues! Do you have a favorite home you have tucked away as inspiration? We would love to see it!

The cream brick house with the sage shutters is from www.tennesseevalleyhomes.com and they have many more gallery pics for inspiration. That house might be under "listings." I am from WI, and your blog (and Studio McGee) are the only ones I always try to keep up on!
