The Willow Lane House Reveal: Part II | Bria Hammel Interiors

We are back at it again today with Part II of the Willow Lane House project reveal. If you missed Part I, click here!

The Mudroom + Laundry Room

This home was built for empty nesters, so a small laundry room was all they needed. Sometimes having a laundry room off the main living space of a home is nice since really that’s where we spend most of our time. Do you know how many loads of laundry I would crank out if I had the washer/dryer right by my kitchen? I’m always forgetting to switch loads because ours is upstairs near our bedrooms!

We used a honed tumbled marble on the floors. A small built in bench gave adequate seating space in the mudroom for putting on shoes, and a coat closet near the garage door adds plenty of hidden storage.

The Sunroom

This room is one of the most cheerful space in the house. Light pours in from all sides of the room, even thru the ceiling skylights. We kept the furniture light but practical in here, using indoor outdoor fabric. Another factor to consider was the fading potential in this space with all the sunlight. Using a light color made for outdoor sun exposure, will help this furniture last against the strong sunlight.

The Master Suite

The master bedroom is on the 2nd floor which allowed for a large bedroom and bathroom in one half of the 2nd level. The bedroom was kept light and romantic with a crystal chandelier and soft colored bedding. The master bathroom was designed with one of our favorite bathroom layouts, a floating tub flanked by his and her vanities. We used porcelain full size slabs for the master shower that is both beautiful and so practical for cleaning with less grout joints to clean. The marble floor and countertops are classic and beautiful, and the touch of vintage with the reclaimed wood mirrors adds just enough casualness to the space.

The Art Studio

We love when our clients have hobbies that require special rooms to design. A space that can truly define their passions and allow them to completely engage in what they love to do. Our client is a painter, and creates beautiful pieces for herself and her loved ones to enjoy. She wanted a room that was beautiful and open so she could work with different mediums. A desk, storage for supplies and books. Open floor space for easels and dropcloths. A place for her and her grandchildren to sit and read, draw, create. This room is one of our favorites in the entire home.

Guest Bedrooms

Along with the master suite and art studio are 2 guest bedrooms and bathrooms. Our clients have children, and just had their first grandchild! We created rooms that were gender neutral enough for their children, and simple enough to not worry about grandchildren spending time in the spaces. Having rooms that are versatile and work for adults and children, friends and family, allows flexibility and is a wonderful addition to a home for entertaining.

We have been overwhelmed with all the wonderful feedback we have gotten from this home. Thank you all so much for following along with us and loving this home as much as we do! Next time we will be sharing the entire lower level, along with the great room in this house!
