Easter Fun with Gathre Mat

Can you believe that Easter is only a little over a week away? It seems like we were just celebrating Valentine’s Day and suddenly Spring is right around the corner! Last week, a few of us from the studio gathered together for an early Easter celebration with our little ones. There’s truly something extra special about a holiday when you see it through a child’s eyes. Their excitement and joy is contagious and it was such a fun afternoon!

While out shopping a few weeks ago, we were so happy to see how great the Easter/Spring decor was this year (see our tablescape picks here). We especially love these adorable bunny napkins and they went perfectly on the kids table. Easter is by far one of our favorite holidays to decorate for simply because we get to use an abundance of pastels which is perfectly inline with our feminine design style. We loved bringing out the pinks, yellows, and lavenders, which is such a refreshing change from the darker, more moody hues you tend to see throughout Fall/Winter.

Now that our kids are a little bit older, we’re excited that they are able to participate in dying Easter eggs! So many of us have such vivid childhood memories of dying eggs and the smell of vinegar in the air. However, this year, we wanted to switch up and try out naturally dying eggs. We’ve seen so many great ideas on Pinterest where you can use natural ingredients (like beets, spinach, coffee, etc.) to create the dyes and we thought we’d try the experiment ourselves. We decided to use red cabbage, which ended up giving us a beautiful turquoise color. We loved the way they turned out and if you’re interested in trying it yourself scroll to the bottom for our step-by-step guide.

While hosting playdates are always so much fun, there’s always that little thought in the back of your head that wonders if there’s a way to possibly contain the mess. Well, there now is. It’s called a Gathre mat and it’s LIFE. CHANGING. For those who aren’t familiar with Gathre, they create wipeable, waterproof leather mats that come in all different sizes, colors, and patterns, that can be used for anything from a diaper mat to a play mat or picnic/beach blanket. Not only are the extremely functional, they’re also beautiful (we chose the color vetiver from their SS18 collection).

Through the cake (which always seems to end up getting crushed up and stomped into the floor somehow), playing, and egg dying, the mat caught it all and was so easy to wipe and fold up at the end of the day. We can’t imagine how many times these mats would’ve saved us in the past!
