One of the things I like best about new construction projects are all the elements that go in to completing the full design. One way to make a statement on your exterior of your home is by creating a decorative railing design for your porch or deck. It’s a little detail that can make big difference! Come check out a few of my favorite designs!
You can’t ever go wrong with an “x” railing. It’s one of our favorite railing designs and reminds us of Cape Cod!
A more modern approach is to use a cable railing. A simple design that doesn’t obstruct any views!
A refined Tudor style home with extra decorative spindles! I love the oversized newel posts, they fit the scale of the house nicely!
We used this concept at our Luxury Home this year. Using glass panels instead of spindles allow for a clean design that’s perfect for a lake or ocean front view!
This is one of my favorites! A Chippendale inspired railing design adds so much detail to a façade of a home! Classic and fresh!
So pretty and grand! Carved, chunky spindles that look like they came right off of a Southern plantation style home! Just lovely.
This was a new photo I recently discovered. A little bit more detail than an “x” but still simple enough to accent a traditional style home. The decorative finials caps are too cute!
Skinny “x” patterns on repeat! We can never get enough of this design detail.
Looking for all of these inspiration photos got me thinking…how cute would a herringbone style railing be? I had to get this detail on paper! What do you think?
So, which railing style is your favorite??
