Spring Into Home: Meredith Rodday, View From My Heels

It’s our final week of our #SpringIntoHome tour and we are so excited to share with you Meredith from View From My Heels personal home. If you missed the previous tours, you can find them here: Doreen | Bria | Kelsey | Claire.

Meredith’s house is gorgeous. I started following her a year ago when her home was featured on Style Me Pretty Living.

Fresh, coastal, a touch of modern, and oh so comfortable… Meredith’s style is beautifully curated throughout the rooms of her home.

Meredith and her husband purchased their home almost 5 years ago, as a new construction spec home. We all know the benefits of buying a new construction home; everything is new and in perfect condition, typically the home comes with full warranties, and the home is usually up to date and on trend. The downsides of buying a spec? Often there is not a lot of character in the home. Builders tend to play it safe so the home appeals to the masses.

Over the past 5 years, the Rodday’s have added their touch to make their house feel like a home.

Adding shiplap in the foyer, it stepped the space up a notch. Shiplap is a great wall treatment to get the wow factor without making a space feel heavy and ornate.

Meredith’s kitchen is fresh and inviting. She replaced the original island countertop (used to be a warm toned granite) with a marble slab with a built up edge. We love adding these thick edges, especially on large islands, to give the marble more presence. They also added this built in breakfast nook. Building in a banquette is such a great use of space. It opens up traffic patterns, and creates a cozy corner for families to dine.

The great room is what had me at hello with Meredith. I’m typically not the biggest advocate for a leather sofa {probably because in Minnesota’s winter months it can feel so cold!} but the warm camel leather she chose and the soft clean lines on the frame made the leather sofa the perfect choice for the space. Adding the preppy blue and white striped throw, a touch of feminine pillows, it really is the perfect balance of masculine and feminine.

The dining room was just completed {although she has talked of still adding sisal wallpaper, I say do it!}. The artwork was her starting off point. The playfulness of the art sets the tone for the rest of the space. Some of our favorite Serena and Lily chairs paired with an organic and clean lined table, create a fresh and use every day kind of space!

Her children’s rooms are so sweet because they are playful, but will absolutely grow up with the kids too. How cute is the apple art on the wall?

Meredith’s office space is so crisp and organized. She did a fun ikea hack on the bookcases and the layered rugs are such a nice touch to add extra comfort and warmth.

Even Meredith’s basement has so much personality. The wallpaper on the back wall adds interest as you walk in the space, while the charcoal built in cabinet balances out the large room. You can see a glimpse of the adorable colored animal wall hangings in the family room area, such a sweet touch!

The navy and white combination in her guest room is a perfect addition to her home. Loving all the touches of wallpaper throughout the home!
