If you’ve been following us for a while now, you know that BHI doesn’t play around when it comes to our annual holiday party. 😉 Last season, our entire team jetted off to NYC (read more about it here), and it was truly one of the best weekends of the entire year. Not only was it the perfect opportunity for our team to reflect on all our wins over the past year but it was a time for us to bond, let loose, and have some much deserved fun!
When it came time to choose our location for this year’s party, we knew we wanted a city that had good food, pretty sights, and was walkable and easy for all 13 of us to get around! What immediately came to mind? Chicago!
Being such a short trip from Minneapolis, we actually found ourselves in Chi-town a lot this past year, but always for work related projects or events. For this trip, we were excited to explore the city for pleasure and spend some time doing the things we’ve missed and jotted down during our previous visits!
We boarded our 7:00am flight on Friday with the goal of taking in as much of Chicago as we could over the next 36 hours. And, I have to stay, mission accomplished. From shopping, taking in the views at the Hancock center, visiting the most charming Christmas market, and of course, trying out amazing bars and restaurants, our team did it all.
Below is a list of what to do and where to eat if you find yourself in a quick, weekend getaway to Chicago in the winter!
WHAT TO DO
Christkindlemarket: Swing by Daley Plaza for delicious treats and handmade goods at Chicago’s traditional Christkindlemarket. Make sure to try the candied nuts and mulled wine!
Wrigley Building Tree:Â While enjoying a stroll along the river, make sure you stop by the Wrigley Building and see their incredible, booming Christmas tree. We were so happy to snap some photos as a team for our Christmas card this year!
The Signature Room at the 95th (Hancock Building): Searching for an amazing view of the city? Look no further. Sit on top of Chicago at the Signature Room at the 95th for dinner, drink, or just to take in the sights. But, warn your friends who are scared of heights before making reservations. 😉
Shopping in Lincoln Park: By far one of our favorite neighborhoods in Chicago, there are so many incredible apparel, home, and beauty shops in this area. Of course we had to pop into the fairly new Serena & Lily, which did not disappoint!
WHERE TO EAT
Hampton Social: Get a little taste of the beach even in the middle of winter in River North, Chicago. You can’t go wrong with the delicious selection of seafood and rosé.
3 Arts Club Cafe: This trendy spot is known for being right above a Restoration Hardware; you might even recognize it from Instagram. Appearances aside, you won’t want to miss their food or drinks!
Summer House Santa Monica: A taste of the West Coast comes to the Midwest. With everything from seafood to vegetarian fare to an incredible brunch menu, you’ll want to make sure you give yourself plenty of time just to decide what you’ll want to get.
It’s pretty safe to say, we had a wonderful time. This trip was every bit as exciting and rewarding for me as it was for my team! To have a team that views each other as family and care about one another, can laugh, and have so much fun together is a true gift. Where will 2019 take us? Well, you’ll have to just follow along and wait and see 😉
