Similar to the rest of the home (which you’ll see in future posts), the mudroom was pretty dim and dated. However, there were a couple aspects about the room that we loved and didn’t want to change. A few being the overall layout and built-in cabinetry. In order to really liven up the space, we only needed to change two major things: the walls and flooring. And, boy, did it make a huge difference!

We began by replacing the dark, stone tile that covered the entire space. When designing the room, we came across this beautiful The Tile Shop x Laura Ashley tile and knew it would be absolutely perfect for it. The Tile Shop has had some pretty incredible collaborations but we were super excited to hear about this one since Laura Ashley is typically only available in Great Britain.

Our clients stressed to us that they wanted the space to be beautiful, but functional, so this selection was a no brainer. It had the unique and handmade look of a cement tile with the durability and quality of a ceramic tile. Win win! Even before changing up the walls and adding any window treatments, artwork, or accessories the new tile immediately brightened the space up immensely. We couldn’t be more obsessed with it!

Here it is… the completed look! How’s that for a transformation, right?! This once drab and dark space is now an inspiring, bright, and inviting room that we would be more than happy to spend time in. This area was craving light and color and by installing a blue and white stripe wallpaper, a playful roman shade, vintage artwork, and textural accessories we gave it just that.

We’ve said it before but it’s worth repeating, it’s always amazing to us how such simple changes like a new tile and a fresh coat of paint or fun wallpaper can truly transform a space fairly easily. We are extremely thrilled with how this room turned out and are even happier to know that our clients feel the same way.
