For this floral arrangement we went with a color palette of pink, white and green for a fresh and timeless look. We started with pink lisianthus. They are sturdy and have a long vase life as a cut flower, making them an excellent base for any arrangement. Pro tip: Remove any leaves that would be below the water line to keep the water cleaner and extend the flower’s life. Next we added pink saponaria stems. These bring more color and a bit of volume. Pro tip: Gently fluff the stems to give a fuller appearance and better airflow. For added height and texture, we included white larkspur stems. You could substitute any stock flower from your local grocery store! Pro tip: Trim the stems at a 45-degree angle before placing them in water.
We popped in a few white peonies to vary the size of the flowers in the arrangement. Peonies have a wonderful way of opening up and filling space, so start with them closed and let them bloom over time for a dynamic look. Pro tip: Consider placing peonies in a cool location away from direct sunlight and drafts to extend their lifespan. Lastly, we added some green pennycress as a filler. Pennycress not only adds a lovely green backdrop, but also provides texture and a natural, garden-like feel. Make sure to spread the pennycress evenly throughout the arrangement to create a balanced look. Pro tip: Opt for filler flowers that complement and enhance the primary blooms without overpowering them. Other great options include baby’s breath, eucalyptus or wax flowers to add volume, creating a harmonious arrangement.
‘I love to use flowers with soft, wispy petals such as baby's breath, delphinium, Queen Anne's lace, or hydrangeas to keep the arrangement organic and not too formal – Bria’
‘Opt for a vase or container with a smaller opening at the top that complements the style you want to achieve. Options include glass vases, ceramic pitchers, or even rustic woven baskets. Begin with a base of lush foliage, add in larger, more structured flowers, and finish with delicate, wispy blooms for a beautifully balanced arrangement – Bria’
Remember, when arranging your flowers, always work in odd numbers for a more natural appearance, and keep your arrangement fresh by changing the water every two days and re-cutting the stems at an angle. We hope these tips make it easier for you to create beautiful floral arrangements that brighten up any space!
