Welcome to our Charleston Guide! Charleston holds a special place in our hearts, and it’s not just because we always find ourselves returning to this charming city. With its historic architecture, vibrant culture, and southern hospitality, Charleston has become a second home for us, and we’ve been fortunate to work on numerous projects in the area.
In this guide, we’ve compiled our favorite hotels, coffee spots, dinner destinations, shopping locales, and more to help you experience Charleston like a local. Whether you’re planning your first visit or looking for new hidden gems, our curated selections will ensure you enjoy the best of what Charleston has to offer.
WHERE TO STAY
Our favorite place to stay when visiting is the Spectator Hotel. For the best boutique experience we recommend 86 Cannon. Be sure to check out the daily wine and cheese happy hour!
WHERE TO GET COFFEE
The perfect start to any day (in our opinion) begins with a cup of coffee, and some of our top picks when we’re in town include The Harken Cafe, Clerks Coffee in the Emeline Hotel, or Rise Coffee Bar. During our last visit to Rise Coffee Bar our order included the honey lavender matcha, the hot chai, and the iced almond milk vanilla latte. You truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!
WHERE TO EAT
There are so many amazing places to eat and drink in Charleston that we couldn’t possibly name them all, but here are a few of our favorites. Sorelle is our favorite restaurant right now for dinner in Downtown Charleston, Basic Kitchen (get the cauliflower buffalo wings!), Halls Chophouse, The Darling Oyster Bar, Citrus Club (the best rooftop experience!), Goat. Sheep. Cow., and if you’re headed out to Sullivan’s Island you need to check out Sullivan’s Fish Camp!
WHERE TO SHOP
The Charleston area is brimming with charming shops that could easily fill your entire trip (and suitcase!) with unique finds and treasures. King Street south of Market is our favorite area to shop in! We make sure to always stop at Loeffler Randall, Candlefish, LAKE, Hill House Home, Hampden Clothing, Veronica Beard, and Minnow. For antiques we love stopping by Shoppe Found.
MOUNT PLEASANT FAVORITES
We’ve had the chance to explore the Mount Pleasant area of South Carolina a bit more over the years and are excited to share some of our favorite spots with you. To stay and to dine we recommend the Post House Inn. To shop we recommend Elizabeth Stuart, Abide A While Garden Boutique and Mount Pleasant Mall for antiques!

My daughter is in Mt Pleasant, so always happy to know where to go when I’m there.
