A Night at the Oscars…

I first intended to write this post on the TO DIE FOR Architectural Digest 2013 Oscar Greenroom…. but first… after watching the Oscar’s, I have to comment on the fabulous performances and right on the money theme of musical history. I grew up watching Sound of Music, dreaming of Guinevere and the classic Camelot, and even pretending to be Sandy in Grease. I LOVE MUSICALS.

For a long while, there seemed such a lack of musicals in film. I still am shocked these days to see such famous actors actually have the talent to sing. Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman… The Les Miserables performance was amazing and showed such talent. Just so happy to see the popularity of this talent growing.

I, will be a happy girl if more of our favorite celebs takes up ballroom dancing and share their beautiful vocals with us.

And now, onto the greenroom…

Madeline Stuart was the designer who created this beautifully art-deco styled space at the Oscar’s this year. A well suited job for her being the daughter of director Mel Stuart, most famously known for his movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Stuart shared her objective for the space with Architectural Digest: “My goal was to create a space where contemporary stars wouldn’t be surprised to bump into Carry Grant or Katharine Hepburn.” Obviously this was a recurring theme considering the opening act had Charlize Theron and Channing Tatum ballroom dancing to “The Way You Look Tonight”. Although Tatum could use a few more ballroom lessons, I would say it was a pretty impressive one act for the two stars.

A very pleasant night watching the award show… I often feel let down after all the build up, but this year did not disappoint.
