The Fourth of July has always been one of our favorite holidays. In Minnesota, it means heading up to one of our 10,000 lakes, grilling out, and spending lots of time with family and friends. Every year when Fourth of July weekend rolls around, the Twin Cities becomes a pretty quiet spot. It seems like everyone has, or knows someone that has, a cabin and everyone heads out of the city and to the water. For us, we are fortunate enough to have a client turned friend who owns a gorgeous home on Balsam Lake and was gracious enough to let us use their space.
My family and I have actually been coming up here for almost 6 years now and it truly has a special place in my heart. The owner recently enlisted our team to renovate the cabin as well, and we cannot wait to reveal it to you shortly! It’s pretty incredible. But, today we are sharing our Fourth of July table! The cabin features a boat house right beside the lake with a rooftop deck that is the perfect place for gathering and enjoying the view.
Typically, when it comes to the Fourth of July, table settings are on the casual side. And while we wanted something that didn’t feel too fussy, we thought we wanted to elevate it this year to create a more chic tablescape. We started with a clean, white linen tablecloth to act as that blank slate for us to build upon.
While we often use blue and whites in our design, red is normally a color we don’t use frequently. It was fun to incorporate this color into table setting to really embrace that patriotic feeling. For us, we tied in red through the flowers and linens like these eyelet napkins and striped runner.
We selected these blue and white floral plates from William Sonoma x Aerin collection and we pretty much want every single item from the line. We love that they are feminine, provide a bit color, but most importantly, can be used all year long for many different occasions. To tie in a little bit more blue, we selected these blue glasses which are melamine and won’t shatter – always a plus!
