We are back at it again with Part II of our Afton project reveal. If you missed Part I, click here to catch up! Today, we are taking you through the rest of the main floor of the home which includes the living room, master bedroom and bathroom – three of our favorite spaces in the entire house. We’ll also share a small glimpse of the upstairs, but you’ll have to wait until next week to see the rest of the upper level as well as the lower level living space!
The Main Floor Living Space
The Master Bedroom and Bathroom
When it comes to master suites, this one might take the cake for the most tranquil and luxurious. From the dark striated wallpaper to the poster bed handcrafted from reclaimed Douglas fir, it has so many jaw-dropping details. However, our absolute favorite might be the ceiling. To provide depth and contrast, we installed wood planks preserved through shou sugi ban, a traditional Japanese technique for waterproofing wood that involves charring to render it a deep charcoal. It’s features like this that really took the space to the next level and I’m constantly proud of my team for pushing the envelope. Cause, boy, it paid off.
In the master bathroom, we wanted to create a spa-like retreat for the homeowners. Through modern touches and sleek, clean lines this modern oasis is perfect for unwinding after a long day. I mean, could that soaking tub be any more beautiful?
The Loft
For just a little glimpse into the upper level, we’re sharing the loft space that overlooks the living room. With leather bean bags and pillows imitating stones and pebbles (another nod to the mountain theme), this area is perfect for the kiddos to read a book or play a game!
