Last July, I shared the reveal of my southern inspired front porch on the blog (if you missed the post, click here). This is truly where our family spends most of our time during the summer months and I was so thrilled to hear that you all loved it as much as we do!
One of the most frequent question I received after sharing the space was ‘where did you get that hanging planter?’. Well, today I’m sharing all the details as well as a yummy, Basil Lemon Drop cocktail recipe!
In the spirit of embracing all things summer, I knew I wanted an herb garden on my porch. But, I did have a few requirements. It had to be beautiful, not take up too much space, and ideally out of harm’s way from my kiddos and pup (too many instances of broken pots in the past that I didn’t really want to relive!). So, when I found this white, hanging wall planter I knew it would be the perfect solution.
I decided to hang it right above our bar cart so that we could easily add the fresh herbs to cocktails, lemonade, tea, or water. And, with a white chalk pen, I labeled each pot with the herb’s name. After a quick trip to my local garden center, I picked up a few of our favorite fresh herbs and… voila! Couldn’t have been easier and I’m so happy with how it turned out!
Below you’ll find the recipe for the most delicious summer cocktail – Basil Lemon Drop! It’s a twist on one of my favorite martinis and so refreshing. I loved adding in fresh basil from my herb garden, but I could see this being just as yummy with mint or lavender too!
