If you’ve been following us for a while now, you’ll know that the word “trendy” and Bria Hammel Interiors don’t necessarily go hand in hand. And, to be honest, we really have no problem with that. While we can appreciate certain trends and take bits of inspiration from them, we much rather prefer homes that are classic, timeless, and will remain beautiful for decades to come.
Over the years, we’ve seen certain fads come and go (i.e. mid-century modern style, grey on grey on grey color palettes, rigid furniture, etc.) and slowly we’ve been seeing the reappearance of traditionalism. As we move into this new decade, we are finally seeing the official return to the classics. Can we get a hallelujah?
While there are so many areas we could cover, today, we decided to focus on one category we’re most excited about the direction it’s headed. Tile! Below are our top 5 favorite tile trends for 2020 that we would gladly incorporate into any project we take on.
Tile that Tells a Story
This correlates to the general movement we’re seeing in the interior design world to antique and vintage furnishings and accessories. More and more often, our clients are wanting the pieces in their home to tell a story. For tile, this can be done through hand-glazed or hand-painted techniques!

Traditional Tile with a Modern Installation
From a classic subway tile to an artisan marble, we love putting a slight, modern twist on these traditional tiles. In the example below, we love that they took this classic, hand-glazed tile and stacked it straight and vertical to give it a fresh take.

We missed you! Who said classic can’t mean colorful? We are drawn to colorful tile (especially deeper tones with high contrast!) to give a space an unexpected, stunning touch.

Beautiful Borders
Instead of accent tiles (remember those shower niches people would spend insane amounts of money on just to have them covered up by shampoo and conditioner bottles?), you will find the details now lie in beautiful borders. We love the extra, added attention to design this detail creates in a space!

Hello! I love your design style! Two questions: 1.) How much is your "out of state" package if I were looking for 10 hours of online service? 2.) Can you tell me what tile is on the the shower (the last image on this page)? It is the image with light cream/beige tiles stacked in groups of horizontal and vertical?
