Up Up and Away: A Baby Boy’s Nursery

A Baby Boy’s Nursery

Remember the adorable baby shower we posted about back in March? We have been anticipating the arrival of sweet baby James and are so excited to finally share his adorable nursery {and him!}

It Started With The Wallpaper

When designing any space, we look for the statement piece that will set the tone for the room. We knew we wanted to incorporate wallpaper into the nursery, so we searched for something special. We came across this adorable hot air balloon wallpaper from Livettes. Livettes is a resource we found on Instagram a while ago, and we have been following their beautiful feed ever since. Based out of Latvia, the company specializes in removable wallpaper and just recently started selling regular wallpaper {like we used in this room}. The moment we saw this wallpaper we knew it was the one. I love the hand drawn look to it, the pure white ground, and the playful feel that makes the sweetest backdrop for this baby boy’s nursery.

The Rugs That Work In Pretty Much Every Space

Once the wallpaper was selected we looked for pieces to compliment the space, but of course function is just as important in a baby room. We LOVE the line from Annie Sielke’s Dash & Albert collection. The Beckham Denim Indigo Rug is part of their indoor/outdoor collection, which is the perfect option for little ones who soon will be crawling, spitting up, and playing on the floor.

A Little DIY Project

One detail you might remember from the baby shower are the hot air balloons that are now hanging in the nursery. We came up with this idea to take attention away from the bump out built into the corner of the room. Not a beginners project {getting the strings perfectly straight while having the balloons suspend in the air}, it wasn’t too big of a project with two people working on it. We had fun multi-purposing these sweet little decorations for the room from the party. {Thanks to Steph’s mom for helping decorate them!}

All you need to make these hanging hot air balloons are:

  • Paper lanterns in various shapes and colors
  • Small baskets (smaller than the paper lanterns)
  • Twine
  • Decorations for the balloon

Tying 4 pieces of twine to the top of each paper lantern, you then want to attach to each side of the basket. {We ended up stitching the twine to the basket to make it more secure} Once the twine was attached you can start decorating! Then, using a piece of string or fishing line, hang from the top of the balloon!

There is nothing better than a mother’s love. Seeing our friend Steph take on motherhood with grace, love, and patience has been so fun! {Can you blame her? Look how sweet Baby James is!}

    I absolutely love this nursery. I tried to used the link for shop the room, but it doesn't seem to work. Would you please kindly share where the mirror and the changing pad cover is from? I also would love to know where the roman shades are from. Thank you so much!

    Hi! I love how this nursery turned out and I am hoping to recreate the diy paper lantern hot air balloons that you have listed in the post. Any chance you have the sources of where you purchased the mini baskets and lanterns? I am not having a ton of luck online finding round options like the ones you all used. Thank you!

      Hi Catherine, I believe I purchased the baskets from somewhere like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. The paper lanterns I believe were part of a set that came with small, medium and large. It's been a while but I believe everything was purchased in store! Good luck! Bria
