An important part of the selection process for new construction homes is the cabinet design meeting. Here, we pick out cabinet door profiles, different overlay styles, whether the cabinets will be stained or painted, but most importantly we design the island! There’s so many things to consider when designing this detail of the kitchen so I’ve gathered some of my favorites!
Lately, we’ve been seeing a lot of “x” bases on islands. I love this detail, it’s fun and unique!
Another option is large scale island legs! There’s so many fun options for legs right now…
For a more simple way to support the island, some people prefer to use decorative corbels or brackets.
Some people prefer to make their island a focal point in the kitchen and decide to use a furniture piece for this space.
Finally, for a more modern look, you can incorporate a waterfall design using your countertop on your island.
