The Darling Darlana

In the Studio

Sneak Peek

We’ve recently undergone a massive remodel of our design studio, and we are so excited to share one of our favorite lighting features! If you’ve worked with us before, then you know that we are lighting obsessed here, at Bria Hammel Interiors. The perfect lighting solution is beautiful, functional, and comfortable. In order to achieve this for our own remodel, we selected the perfect combination of chandeliers, wall sconces, and surface lighting.

One of our favorite light fixtures we’ve used in recent projects is Visual Comfort’s, Darlana hanging pendant. We love the elegant and simple look of the fixture, and the warm candelabra lighting it gives off. Our vision for the space, to incorporate our branding in unexpected ways.

This concept lead us to the idea of using our “BHI Pink” to create a statement piece out of our beloved Darlana lantern. After sourcing several powder coating companies in the Twin Cities, we found a neighbor in Mendota Heights that collaborated with us to find perfect solution for our pink light fixture. We are so excited about how it turned out, and we love that we get to enjoy it every day in the studio.

Hi there! Did you have to remove the wiring to do the powder coat?

Hi Emilie, It typically depends on the fixture. This particular one we didn't have to since we are just spraying the outer frame and it is so open. But with the heat, if it's more enclosed than typically the fixture has to be taken apart so the wires don't have to endure the temperature change.

Thank you so much for your reply! I have these exact lanterns, but the powder coat company I wanted to use said I had to get all the wiring out. I didn’t think it was possible! Glad to know you didn’t and this was fine :)
