The Stonecliffe Home Reveal | Part Three

Today on the blog, our beautiful Stonecliffe Home shows that the chores we dread can (and should be!) the rooms we adore. I can’t wait to walk you through the most darling laundry room you’ve ever seen, a playful yet sophisticated office, and a powder bath that proves small rooms can have a big impact.

The laundry might be piling up, but with a darling plaid roman shade and a chrome lantern light (and a space for man’s best friend!) you might actually want to do that extra pile of sheets. We wanted this laundry room to feel fresh and calming, bright but sophisticated. Laundry rooms so often lack character that there is no wonder we don’t like to spend a lot of time in them! We knew right away that we wanted to highlight the window and all the natural light. Our designer instincts told us to go for a deep charcoal on the window’s trim to make sure it popped against the bright white walls and cheery gray cabinetry.

The reality is, that this laundry room will most likely be filled with lots of sheets, towels, and clothing in a variety of colors and textures most of the time. Picking a softer, neutral color palette makes sure that any laundry “clutter” doesn’t seem out of place at all. A stack of bright blue towels might actually compliment the room!

Incorporating a place for Francis (our client’s beloved dog) was important too. Instead of a bed that takes up a corner and gets in the way of laundry baskets and hampers, we tucked Francis into some cozy cabinetry. Not only did this become his favorite place in the house, but our clients could get rid of their dog kennel- not exactly the accessory that make a laundry room special like this cabinetry does! We just love getting to know our client’s needs and making all the creative alternatives we can to make their reality extra beautiful and functional!

This powder bath proves that a small room can have a huge impact and can be the hidden gem of your entertaining spaces. When talking about the vision for the entire home, rooms like “elegant”, “simple”, and neutral came up again and again. When we saw this wallpaper, it felt like surely we’d found a winner! The great thing about this small bath right off of the foyer and great room, is that it act like a sort of jewel in the context of the home. This bath speaks to the classic elegance the entire home has in a bold way. When you get a peek of this lovely wallpaper when walking by, the entire home just makes more sense. A beautiful powder bath is an extension of a great entertaining space in a way that few other rooms are.

It’s everything you want in an office: the playfulness to be inspired with the simplicity to keep you focused. The wallpaper became the inspiration for the room- crisp and simple dots in taupe. The client often talked about keeping it simple, but didn’t want it to be boring- and we agreed! With great cabinetry already a part of the home, painting them to match the wallpaper only made sense and brought the entire space together. We were challenged by how to use as much of the client’s current things as possible. By adding a lot of different patterns and textures through the window seat pillows, we were able to bright a lot of her old pieces into the space. Adding a hint of leather kept the room sophisticated and masculine- so both husband and wife felt at home in the space. Bria Hammel Interiors | Stonecliffe Home Reveal III

With so many rooms to decorate, we can often let the rooms we spend a lot of time in get less love and attention, but finishing out all of your spaces makes your home feel larger and more usable. A window seat in the office without cozy pillows and a soft cushion would invite you to ponder your goals and dreams or get inspired for a new project. A beautiful powder bath tells your guests they’re loved and valued. A calming and bright laundry room says that every load of laundry you do is an act of service to yourself and your family- so you should enjoy it as much as you can! We hope you make every corner of your home your favorite.
