The Rapp Farm House Reveal | Part II

This home was a beautiful practice in the act of balancing. With young kids and a social lifestyle, our Rapp Farm House family wanted and needed their most used spaces to do it all. In many ways, their home feels like a getaway: a hint of cabin with many rustic elements but yet all the class and charm of a blue and white lake house. As we dove into designing the kitchen and breakfast nook as well as the hearth room, we wanted each space to feel casual enough to make guests comfortable yet stylish enough to host a great party.

Another important thing to remember when designing for a family was ease of cleaning up. The kitchen chairs were an easy choice with their wipeable frames yet bright white and soft gray coloring. A rustic table in a white washed oak finish means that with every scratch and knick, it’ll look even more lovely. The window treatments helped tremendously to soften a space dominated with gorgeous windows yet block as little of the natural light as possible (since privacy wasn’t an issue!).

The blue and white striped barstools were one of our favorite features of this kitchen. They coordinate incredibly well with the Great Room and add a splash of color to an otherwise white kitchen. And speaking of splash of color, this pink and mint rug as a playful side that we absolutely love!

While most of the house feels like a breezy lake house, we wanted to make sure that the hearth room felt as cozy as it’s name. Although the color palette stayed virtually the same, this rooms miniature size with exaggerated rustic beams and large fireplace, makes it the ideal place to read a book or watch the fire. The modern deer art feels bold and cheerful centered between two cheerful reading wall sconces. All in all, the texture makes this room. The ottomans in a light raffia as well as the large one of a woven blue and white pattern make the simplicity of the rest of the space pop. Tranquil yet interesting, this once room you’d be sure to find us on a wintry day in Minnesota!

Your work is stunning! Any chance you can share the source for the fabric on the bar stools?
