Our Spring Cleaning Guide Continues
Get the Most out of Your Pantry Space
This month, we are talking about spring cleaning. We shared our Spring Cleaning Checklist last week; now we dig into the pantry. Hopefully by the end of this blog, you will find your pantry to be neatly arranged and looking beautiful!
We all want a huge pantry.
{In a perfect world} the ideal pantry is a walk-in room with floor to ceiling storage. At least, that’s how we picture it. With such abundant storage comes a need for organization.
The first part of getting organized is to determine what needs to be stored and how you will compartmentalize everything. Start by ditching what you don’t and won’t need, and sort the rest.
Ask yourself who will be accessing the pantry and how often. From there, work your way up or down.
In Bria’s pantry, we stored serving pieces, fragile glass, and stem wear on the top shelves. Arranging items by type and size helps to keep everything looking lovely.
Next, we moved to ingredients and bulk items that may be accessed more regularly, but not daily.
Finally, the accessible shelving is dedicated to perishables, daily necessities, as well as a dedicated drawer for the kids’ crafts.
Adding punches of color, fresh flowers or even fruit can turn your pantry into an extension of your kitchen. This also gives you more surface space to prep with, while creating a very intentional area.
Quick tip: have baskets with an entire meal stored in each one for easy access so the kids can help make dinner. It’s a great way to meal plan and keep things organized!
Container Tips
- Glass & ceramic keeps things fresh.
- Baskets hide clutter, and plastic baskets are easy to clean.
- Using ceramic pieces can pull-in your serving or dishware, giving your pantry a collected look.
- Keep fragile items high and every day items accessible.
- Having a color pallet, along with different textures, will always give your space a specific aesthetic.
There you have it! Transform your pantry from a dumping ground of unorganized food to a beautiful space that stays tidy, clean, and organized.
