Spring Into Home: Bria’s Home Tour

People always ask me, what does your house look like?

It’s week 2 of #SpringIntoHome and this week’s home tour is of yours truly! Teaming up with this group of Design Bloggers has been so fun; sharing, collaborating, and inspiring each other to get our homes ready for spring. This is the first time I’ve done an actual home tour of my house {still a work in progress!}. We have been in our home now for 1.5 years, and are chipping away at all of the projects that come with a new construction home. {we still don’t have grass in our backyard, yikes!}

One of my favorite parts of our house is the front door. Clients always ask me if I worry about privacy but being on the top of a hill you have to drive all the way up our driveway and walk down our sidewalk to get a good look at anything. The natural light that comes in thru the door and windows is so beautiful during the day… totally worth any privacy I may be giving up!

Our great room is definitely still a work in progress. Since we moved in with a 6 week old baby, we have kept this room on the back burner. It hasn’t been a bad thing to have floor space and no breakables to be thrown across the room 😉 I’m definitely getting the itch to get this space completed. We want to add another sofa, possibly remove the carpet and extend our wood floors (hubby is pushing hard for a new puppy!) Even if I can just get window treatments up this room would feel more complete… stay tuned!

One of the most used spaces {obviously} is our kitchen. The island is large enough to host a large gathering and offer plenty of places to sit/stand… which happens often in our space! We love hosting friends and family whether its for a holiday, football game, or Sunday dinner! Having a functional kitchen is key.

The backsplash in our kitchen is the #1 asked for source on our Instagram… so if you missed it and want the information too, its by Walker Zanger!

Speaking of Instagram, you may have seen that we were in Nashville last weekend. It was a trip we won’t forget! One of my favorite parts was touring the 12 South neighborhood, which of course included a visit to Draper James! If you have been there or have a girl crush like I do on Reese Witherspoon, you will recognize our wallpaper in the dining room. They have the Farrow and Ball paper in the fitting rooms of the store and I have been in love with it ever since the store opened!

It might be known by now that I have a small obsession with wallpaper. I can’t get enough of it; to me it’s what takes a design to the next level. In order to not become the crazy wallpaper lady I’ve had to be very selective about where I am installing it in my own home, and I’ve made sure to be absolutely in love before I commit to it. Well, our new mudroom wallpaper is just that. This Hygge and West wallpaper makes my heart flutter… every single time I walk into the room. My husband even melted when he saw it installed for the first time. Direct quote from the hubby: “It makes our house not feel so new, like it’s been here for a 100 years.” That is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. {more pics to come when we do the full mudroom reveal later this month!}

When we started working with Divine Custom Homes on the design of our house, I started with the staircase. I had in my head exactly what I wanted this area to look like, and we literally designed the rest of the house around it.

2 story windows, bench seat, more natural light than you could ever ask for… I still go up and down these stairs every day and smile.

Last, but not least, are the kid’s rooms. Yes thats right, we haven’t designed our master bedroom yet… but don’t worry, the kids rooms have been finished since the day we moved in. I guess it was a lot easier to design adorable kids spaces that I knew I would probably be changing in a few years than our own personal space.

Louie’s room is a cozy, adorable boy room. The elephant art was painted for him by an amazingly talented friend of mine, Rachel Brown of Rachel Brown Art. {You really should check out her work, we are obsessed!} His bed might be more comfortable than ours, with flannel sheets and a warm down duvet, making our favorite part of the day cozying up and reading books in bed together.

Brooklyn’s nursery still gets all of our guests excited when they visit {especially the ladies}. I’ll never get sick of the Anthropologie wallpaper we used in here. {Not saying that I’m not committing to changing it out in a few years ;)} She definitely gets the most natural light in her room which gives the warmest vibes during the day. It really is just the sweetest little nursery.

So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed our home. We can’t wait to share more of it as our projects get checked off our list!

Don’t forget to share your #springintohome spaces on Instagram using the hashtag for the chance to be featured amongst all of our Instagram feeds.
