A Summer Date Night in St. Paul

What To Do With a Night On the Town

Do you ever get a babysitter for a night out, and then get stumped on something fun to do? This happens to us all. the. time. It seems we are always doing the same thing when we have free time, and always wishing we would have made plans to do something a little different.

So this summer we have committed to planning ahead, and visiting some of our favorite places in town. There is nothing better than summer in Minnesota and we are going to enjoy every moment we can!

Some Girl Time

We thought it would be fun to have a little girl time before we met up with our dates. Kind of like when we were young and all our friends would gather at someone’s house to get ready together. But now, it’s even better than that! We visited our favorite blow dry bar in St. Paul {there is one in Edina too!} called the Wow Bar and it’s probably one of the most genius business concepts around. “A place that focuses on the art of the blowout and offers a menu of different blowout looks, all in a setting that allows for optimal girl time.” {Wow Bar website} How perfect is that? For a very reasonable price, you can get a professional to make you feel beautiful in just under an hour.

The space is so lovely. Pink accents, black and white stripe adorned walls, all white furniture, it’s really speaking our language. Not a detail is missed in this space.

You have the 10 different styles to choose from {see them all here}. Our favorites: The Hollywood and the Wow. Allowing the professionals to do your hair {they do makeup too!} gave us the time to chat and unwind from the craziness of work and being moms. It’s kind of like having your own Glam Squad.

Where To Eat In St. Paul

45 minutes later, we were ready to meet our guys! There are so many charming places to go in St. Paul, but one of our favorites is the St. Paul staple WA Frost.

The restaurant/bar, named after the old pharmacy owner William A. Frost, opened its doors in 1975. Full of architectural salvage, the space has a beautiful classic bar, an amazing patio, and even better menu.

We met the guys inside, where they were already enjoying one of the bars craft beers on tap. There is nothing better than finding a place to go that both the ladies and our men are excited to frequent. On top of their list of beers to try: Fulton’s “Sweet Child of Vine” IPA and Lake Superior’s “Kayak Kolsch”, both from Minnesota born breweries.

After grabbing a drink at the bar we were seated on the charming patio facing the Cathedral Hill neighborhood. Beautiful oversized trees, pavered patio, strung lights, it feels like a little hidden street bistro in Europe. Vines growing up the building, you can see the history encompassed in this restaurant that has been a staple in the neighborhood for decades.

We ordered a round of drinks and took a peek at the menu. From recommendations of the waitress, we ordered the artichoke and spinach dip, fried calamari, and the South Carolina pork ribs. They were all

We ordered a round of drinks and took a peek at the menu. From recommendations of the waitress, we ordered the artichoke and spinach dip, fried calamari, and the South Carolina pork ribs. They were all delicious. The South Carolina pork ribs were definitely on the top of our list!

They also have salads, soups, sandwiches, fish and delicious steaks on the menu. Really, you can go any time of day and find something that sounds delicious!

We ate, drank, and passed the time with old high school tales and funny stories about our children. What a great evening it was! The old, relaxed charm that is the Cathedral Hill neighborhood was the perfect area for us to spend the evening unwinding after a busy week.
