The Monthly Edit: April 2018

It’s April, one of my favorite months of the year. April always feels like a big shift in life. The weather gets warmer, peoples moods get a little better 😉 We get to start planting flowers and freshening our homes up for Summer.

It’s hard to believe 1/4 of the year has gone by already, but as I reflect on all that we have done, it’s been a pretty successful first quarter!

Travel

As you may have read here, we went to India the end of February. We were so inspired by this beautiful country. It opened our eyes to so many more possibilities that we hope to share with you all real soon! After India, I traveled to Nashville, Charleston, and Miami all in March. Some for pleasure, most for work {which, let’s be honest, is just as fun!}. I’ve been saying this over and over but traveling has allowed us to really stretch our level of design. We view colors, styles, and livability in a different way. One thing we are also doing is purchasing goods while we travel and incorporating these collected pieces into our latest projects. We can’t wait to share this all with you!

With all this traveling, travel gear has been more important to us than ever! Below are a few of the most recent purchases me and my team have made. Our goal is always to stay super efficient {while feeling cute} on our trips!

Little Ones

Since it’s April, I have been in full swing summer clothes shopping mode for the kids. I find it fascinating how much they grow in 2 seasons. Louie tried on his flip flops that I swore he was wearing up until October and his feet were dangling over the edge of them! Here are some of my favorites I’ve ordered for them recently!

Charleston

The trip to Charleston I went on in the beginning of the month was with my hubby and friends {SD Custom Homes}. Last year we posted a Travel Guide for Charleston, and after exploring the beautiful city again this year I thought I’d share with you some new spots we found!

We stayed at 86 Cannon this time and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this Bed and Breakfast. The owners were so accommodating, the rooms were designed to perfection, and the service was just like out of a 5 star hotel.

We booked a private boat trip for a sunset cruise on the coast. We used Fate Charters and it couldn’t have been a more perfect evening. It was fun to see the city from the water. Our captain shared just enough history with us to keep us interested, we relaxed, ate a charcuterie board from Goat.Sheep.Cow and drank delicious wine.

One morning the guys went golfing at a beautiful golf course called The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, and us girls went shopping. We did a little damage with all the amazing boutiques in Charleston. A few of our favorites were Candlefish, Pink Chicken for adorable kids clothes, and Hampden Clothing for men’s and women’s clothing.

Needless to say it was a wonderful trip and I highly recommend going! We went the beginning of March. The flowers were just starting to bloom, next time I’d say waiting until April would be a better idea to make sure you can travel when the landscape is in full bloom.

High Point Market

Next week we fly to High Point, North Carolina for Spring Market. I have the wonderful honor of being a Style Spotter this year and representing all of market to share what we see as the up and coming trends for the year! We will be sharing all sorts of behind the scenes on our Instagram. So, for those of you designer friends who are attending be sure to follow us as we share a daily “What To Do” everyday we are there on our stories!

Another great resource for those of you traveling to High Point is my dear friends over at Barbour Spangle’s new blog, High Point Discovered. The design firm Barbour Spangle Design is based out of High Point, and they are sharing all their secrets on what makes High Point such a great city! Be sure to go and check it out.

Coming Up

And finally… we have been working on somewhat of a passion project for myself. I’ve always believed that when stars align and your gut is telling you to do something, you need to just do it. In May we will be sharing the exciting news with all of you, but for now keep an eye out on our Instagram for some behind the scenes. That may just give you a hint as to what we are working on!

It’s gearing up to be another crazy month! Thank you all so much for all your support lately. This community of friends, clients, and peers has been making my heart so warm. So thank you!
