Deer Lake Project Reveal

Nothing encompasses Minnesota culture quite like cabins. From childhood memories spent at the lake to a relaxing getaway spot as an adult, cabins hold a special spot in our hearts. We have had the great fortune to design a few cabins over the years and we get so excited with every opportunity we get. Today, we are happy to share our most recent lake home, our Deer Lake Project, with you all.

Nestled an hour outside of the Twin Cities, this home is filled with inviting details, an unbelievable collection of antique furnishings and accessories, and it pretty much encompasses everything we’d wish for in a cabin. It’s the perfect mixture of modern and traditional, masculine and feminine, and warm and cool. Creating the perfect balance of all of these things was our mission for this project which really wasn’t too hard to accomplish due to our client’s clear vision, impeccable taste, and collaborative spirit.

One of the most exciting things we got to play with when designing this home was the homeowner’s extensive collection of antiques. From rugs and furniture to artwork and accessories, we were able to select a huge amount of her vintage pieces for the spaces which made it that much more charming and special. We couldn’t be more thrilled with how this project turned out and we would be more than happy to fill our chilly, winter nights and warm, summer days at this home.

I could happily visit this family. Beautiful and comfortable. One question...are you supposed to light the end of taper candles when they are used for decoration or leave them unburned?

Hi Cindy! Great question. We always burn the end of taper candles (even when they're purely used for decoration!) because it gives it a more "lived-in" look. It can look a bit retail looking when not lit. Hope this helps!
