Arden Ave. Project Reveal

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that we love historic homes. The character, architectural uniqueness, and attention to detail are what we adore about older houses. It’s the “you just don’t see that these days” features that steal our hearts, so when we get the opportunity to modernize these types of homes for our clients, we always make sure to keep the integrity of the spaces.

For our Arden Ave. project, we worked with our friends at Detail Homes to renovate and furnish this stunning Edina home to make it functional and fresh for our clients and their young family. So, let’s get started with the tour, shall we?

FORMAL LIVING ROOM

We’re kicking this reveal off with a bang and starting with the formal living room. Our clients have a more casual family room where they can relax as a family, watch movies, play games, etc. so we wanted to give them a space that was a bit more sophisticated (while still being approachable) that they could utilize when hosting family and friends or just unwind as a couple at the end of the day.

A blue and white color palette is as timeless as it comes, so we started with that, and integrated warm accents like the leather tufted ottoman and antique-inspired side tables to add some contrast. There were many original features that we kept in the space including the fireplace and French doors surrounding the room. These doors offered easy access to our client’s front patio and gave the room the most incredible light.

We love the balance of old and new in this space. It feels so layered, lived-in, and extremely inviting.

DINING ROOM

To continue to nod to the historic roots of this home, we kept the original built-ins for storing china and tableware. To add a bit of playfulness to keep the space from feeling stuffy, we selected a large, block print wallpaper that made the room casual enough for everyday meals but sophisticated enough for dinner parties and gatherings. Custom eyelet window treatments in ivory let in plenty of light during the day, while providing privacy at night.

KITCHEN

This space was a true transformation. It was completely renovated including a new layout that worked for our clients better. Similar to the other spaces, we chose a clean, classic color palette but painted the island a fun blue to add some liveliness.

Detail Homes was so talented when it came to mimicking some of the original details in the home (i.e. the arched doorways seen throughout) and created a stunning pantry door that looked as if it was existing in the home.
