{Trend Report}: Shiplap Walls

If you’ve spent anytime on Pinterest recently you’re probably well aware of this hot design detail. Popular in spaces with a coastal aesthetic and most recently seen in {Modern Farmhouses}, ship lap walls are a great way to add visual interest to any space!

In my opinion, wood paneled walls have the biggest impact in stairways and long halls…both spaces that tend to be overlooked in the design process. When the shiplap runs horizontal, hallways are emphasized and appear longer, and when running vertical, stairwell walls appear tall and grand.

I also love to see wood planked walls in a kitchen. There’s something about this design detail that can make a space feel casual, inviting, and lived in…exactly what every family kitchen should feel like!

Mudrooms are another perfect place to incorporate a wood treatment on the walls. It’s a great way to add extra protection and durability to a high-traffic area.
